Thought for Thursday

"I have gotten to the point in my life where I am rarely surprised by my sin, just saddened by it. Surprise indicates that I did not think I was capable of such wrongdoing. I now know that is rarely the case. Sadness helps me understand my need for Jesus. Sadness at my thoughts, behaviors, actions--or lack thereof. Sadness helps me understand that without Him, I am lost."

Oh. Yeah. Preach it, my friend.

Thank you for posting this quotation. I didn't realise Nancy Ortberg had published a book. I've read her husband and greatly like him so I will look out for 'Looking for God.'

So true. I am always sad at how, after being saved for so many years, I can still mess up so much. It is not the outward things that people can see either. It is things like anger, jealousy, envy, that just spring up when I least expect it. But like the writer, I am not surprised, just sad.

Annette....I love your blog and appreciate the thought you have put into choosing the quotes used.
